Located just a twenty minute walk north of Dublin city center in the heart of Phibsboro, ‘THE HUT’ is one of the finest Victorian Bars to be found anywhere in the city. It has been the proud recipient of several prestigious awards. Included in these is ; ‘The James Joyce Authentic Dublin Pub Award‘. Established as a bar and grocery in the mid nineteenth century, the premises has changed little in appearance since that time. The sale of groceries may have ceased, but still fully intact is the elegant stone facade, the intricately carved solid timber doors, counters and cabinets, the brass gas lamps, the ornate mirrors and the beautiful stained glass door panels.

What has also stayed the same over the years is the warm welcome! Today, proprietors ‘The Mohan’ family, and their team, proudly maintain the tradition of hospitality and friendliness for which the establishment is so renowned. They also hold stubbornly to preserving the values of the traditional Dublin public house, as a place where lively conversation can be engaged in , and a book or newspaper read in peace, without the distractions of modernity so prevalent elsewhere.

However, that is not to say it’s always quiet here! There are regular live music sessions, and at weekends the atmosphere can be electric and the banter hilarious. The Hut is also a popular rendezvous point for sports fans before and after games at nearby Croke Park. Dates and details of forthcoming music events are updated weekly to this website.

Pints at The Hut are always first class, as one would expect from an establishment of this vintage, and only the finest quality ales, lagers, stouts, ciders, wines and spirits is served. Good wholesome lunches are served Monday to Saturday and a selection of sandwiches and snacks is available throughout the day. For details see the FOOD MENU of this website.

To experience an authentic Victorian Dublin pub there is no place better than THE HUT.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
